Soup in Malaysian style

The recipe for Malaysian soup involves ready-made curry paste. If desired you can make this soup even more flavored. For this purpose, you can prepare the paste yourself.

For this take 2 green chili peppers, 3 lemon grass stems, a pair of garlic cloves and peeled and sliced ​​ginger root. Put everything into the bowl of the blender, add 1 tsp. ground turmeric, coriander and shrimp paste. Pour a little water and chop until it becomes smooth. Fry the resulting paste in hot oil, for 3 minutes. Add broth and coconut milk and cook according to the recipe.

List of required products:

  • 500 g of large raw shrimps;
  • 200 g tofu;
  • 200 grams of rice noodles;
  • 400 ml of coconut milk;
  • 500 ml fish broth;
  • 3 cm of fresh ginger root;
  • 1 clove of garlic;
  • 1 pod of chili pepper;
  • 1 small bunch of cilantro;
  • juice from 1 lime;
  • 2 tsp. green curry paste;
  • 2 tbsp. of fish sauce;
  • 2 tsp. of sugar;
  • 1 tbsp. of vegetable oil;
  • salt;
  • cayenne pepper.

Begin to cook


  1. Peel the shrimps, grind the ginger, garlic and chili. Cilantro leaves are chopped finely. In a deep pan fry garlic and ginger in oil. As a rule, it takes 1 min. Add the curry paste and fry for 1 min.
  2. Pour broth and coconut milk, bring to a boiling condition, season with sugar, salt, lime juice and fish sauce. Boil for 5 minutes.
  3. Pour the noodles with boiling water and leave for 5 minutes. Throw them into a colander. Tofu has to be cut into cubes. Put shrimps and tofu into a saucepan together with soup, cook for 3 minutes.
  4. Spread the noodles on the bowls and pour with the soup. Sprinkle the soup with coriander leaves and serve.
