Today we are going to continue the series of publications devoted to recipes with rhubarb. And since the strawberry has already appeared on the market, we will make a delicious filling, combining it with rhubarb. It sounds terrific, doesn’t it? You see, we will cook a very tasty and rather useful pie at the same time!
Cake with rhubarb and strawberries in American style is very delicious indeed. What is the secret? — The matter is that it has a lot of fragrant and flavored stuffing inside in combination with terrific dough.
What products to take
- 3 tbsp. — milk;
- 300 g of wheat flour;
- 1 egg;
- 140 g of butter;
- 5 grams of salt;
- 60 g of sugar;
- 250 g — cleaned and unpeeled rhubarb;
- 3 tbsp. — water;
- 250 g — strawberries;
- 2 tbsp — starch;
- 200 g — sugar;
Begin to cook
- Mix all the ingredients for the dough and knead them carefully.
- We divide everything into two portions, then wrap each in a food film and send it for one hour to the fridge.
- And now it is high time for us to prepare the stuffing. For this purpose we should chop the rhubarb finely and carefully.
- To the rhubarb we add half a portion of sugar, leave to stand for 15 minutes and after that it is recommended to drain the juice.
- Strawberries are sliced and mixed also with sugar.
- We dissolve starch in water, pour everything into strawberries, put on fire and cook for 5 minutes. After that it is necessary to cool the future dish.
- Roll out the dough, lay out one part into the mold and form the sides carefully.
- We put the rhubarb first, then the strawberry.
- Cover the second layer of dough and pierce it with a fork.
- From above it is possible to cover everything with an egg or the beaten yolk.
- We put into a preheated up to 190 degrees oven and bake for about 40 minutes.
It remains only to wait until this wonderful pie is cooled and can be served to the table. Enjoy your meal!
