Lemon-poppy cake according to an old recipe

Today we will cook a wonderful cake according to the recipe given by old Russian cuisine. This is something like a honey cake, but very fragrant, flavored and saturated. It seems that this tasty cake is melting in the mouth.

What products to take

  • 60 g — poppy;
  • 200 g butter;
  • 200 ml of milk;
  • 1 tbsp. (with a slide) — lemon peel;
  • 350 g — sifted flour;
  • 250 g — powdered sugar.

Begin to cook

  1. We mix sugar powder, milk, butter, eggs and lemon zest.
  2. After that all should be whisked. In some cases it would be better to use the ordinary kitchen mixer.
  3. Whisk the ingredients to the appearance of the completely homogeneous mixture.
  4. We brew the poppy and just add it to the dough.
  5. The prepared mixture is poured into a baking dish. Don’t forget to cover its bottom with oil or butter.
  6. We put everything into in the oven preheated up to 170 degrees.
  7. Bake until it becomes ready. As a rule, it takes about 40-45 minutes.
  8. Cool the bakery and serve it to the table.
