This dish will be appreciated by the vegetarians, and not only by them. Peas with potatoes, prepared in the pot are amazing, especially when they are as complemented by spicy herbs.
All in all this dish belongs to the Old Russian cuisine. In accordance with some historians’ point of view, it was often prepared in monasteries and in peasant families. It shouldn’t be forgotten as it is considered to be an excellent side dish. Some people prefer to take it as a great independent one.
What products to take
- 500 g — potatoes;
- 2 onions;
- 1 — bitter pepper;
- 5 tbsp. — vegetable oil;
- 300 g — green peas;
- 1 tsp. — chopped cumin;
- to taste — spices;
Begin to cook
- Blush the peas in hot water.
- Peeled potatoes are cut into medium or large cubes.
- We remove the seeds out of bitter pepper, then cut the vegetables finely.
- We pour oil into a frying pan, hit it and fry some chopped onion in it. As a rule it takes about 5 minutes and as a result you will get light-golden hint of this ingredient.
- Then pour inside the spices, crushed cumin and bitter pepper.
- Also we put potatoes there, mix carefully and fry for 5-7 minutes.
- We put everything into a pot and mix with peas.
- We put everything into the oven preheated to 200 degrees and bake for 20 minutes.
- We serve the dish to the table in a hot condition.
